Bradford Clean Air Schools Programme
Wycliffe CE Primary School in Shipley received funding through the Bradford Clean Air Schools Programme (BCASP) to explore ways of reducing children’s exposure to air pollution on the journey to and from school, and throughout the school day.
This exciting project also brought challenges, with the school located next to a busy main road and limited nearby parking for pick-ups and drop offs.
We worked closely with school staff and children including the Eco Council, convening two parent and carer engagement workshops and delivering a creative art and mapping campaign with the fantastic Artworks Education. The Eco Council shaped the creative art and mapping campaign with their ideas around encouraging drivers to stick to the 20mph speed limit, park safely away from school and choose cleaner, safer routes and many of the children were involved in the design and painting.
