Great Big Green Week!
We had a great event on the 8th June where people were able to find out information about and engage with the lovely organisations, groups and projects focused on the environment in and around Shipley including:
- Shipley in Bloom - Engaging individuals and organisations to work together to improve biodiversity, wellbeing and aesthetics in the Shipley area.
- Nifty Sustainability - a fab (we are biased!) Community Interest Company who support individuals organisations and groups to contribute positively to a more sustainable world through research, learning and activism. See examples of our work here.
- Bradford and Shipley Travel Alliance - a group of Bradford residents and organisations who are concerned about the proposed Bradford-Shipley “Route Improvement” Scheme. The Alliance provides a discussion forum with the objective of presenting (and campaigning on) common concerns, to the authorities that are planning and funding the road scheme.
- Shipley Stories - who aim to provide an opportunity for local residents to share stories, research and learn more about their local community, provide a number of regular activities and events for the enjoyment of members and reduce social isolation and give members the opportunity to increase their social circle.
- XR Bradford - A local branch of the international movement against climate change inaction and ecological breakdown. We are a growing community of citizens using non-violent direct civil disobedience to achieve radical change and protect life on Earth.
- The Canal and River Trust - whose volunteers in Shipley are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the local waterways for the community. Recently, they have installed coir rolls to create a beautiful bog garden, which not only improves the local biodiversity but also provides a serene spot for residents and visitors.
- Kt Shepherd Permaculture - everyday permaculture learning, facilitation and creative practice.
